Never Cheat on the Gym! 

Michelle has been a YMCA Sudbury member for the last five years, but initially was very inconsistent. In January 2014, Michelle got engaged and decided it was time to make a change in her fitness routine. She set a goal to lose 60 pounds and to date, has lost 67 pounds!

Michelle’s advice, “you need to find what works for you.”  Enjoying fitness classes, Michelle started with a small goal of attending two Zumba classes per week.  She added additional fitness classes one at a time and found that incorporating strength training to her routine really benefited as well; the family atmosphere made a huge difference for Michelle as well.

The instructors care, they are not just robots teaching a class. If I’m not there, people notice and will ask me where I was”.  Michelle made changes to her diet focusing on food quality rather than quantity and reduced  portion sizes.  “Setting a goal is the most important part of being successful. Make a realistic goal. Do it for yourself. Never cheat on the gym—if you have something planned at the gym, follow through. That should be your main priority. Also ensure that you have a good support system in place”.  

Michelle now plans to pursue becoming a YMCA Group Fitness Instructor!
